I. - Who We Are
The Directorate of Security and Intelligence (DSI, or Directorate), the branch of the Phoenix Expeditionary Society, that provides members, residents, and guests with not only physical protection but preventative action through active intelligence gathering. Our duties will be the most paramilitary in this otherwise non militaristic organization by the very nature of our jobs. And while espionage and intelligence gathering is, at heart, a morally grey area, all agents working within the Directorate will swear to and be held accountable for an oath of integrity to prevent any abuse of their position. Agents found in violation of their oath, or infringing unduly upon the rights of any member, citizen, resident, or guest shall be held fully accountable for their actions by Director Leonovna.
II - What We Do
Our task is two-fold. The DSI shall be divided into two branches. One, entitled Peacekeepers, shall be responsible for the physical well-being of all who retain membership and any guests visiting on premises. Any protection off Nexus grounds is not guaranteed, as our jurisdiction ends at the border of claimed territory. A sub-division of this branch shall be enacted, consisting of highly trained special operatives; this shall be known as the Forward Guard. Members of the Forward Guard shall hold the same duties and responsibilities as a Peacekeeper with the additional training to protect and expand the organization’s interests in future endeavors. The Forward Guard will accompany settlers who expand into new grounds to establish a foothold of civilization, protect them from hostiles, and in times of need shall act as tactical advancement teams to eliminate a threat before it can pose itself to the organization.
The second branch shall remain the unseen arm of protection for the organization, known as the Watchmen. The duties of the Watchmen shall be to gather active intelligence in the best interest of the organization’s wellbeing and report as such to Director Leonovna. These shall consist of undercover field operatives who shall not be publicly known as agents, for the safety of aforementioned agent and in the interests of being able to properly perform said duties for the organization. These field operatives can be dispatched into areas of interest at the request of high command. Due to the sensitive nature of their work, should they be discovered by the enemy, the Directorate shall disavow any knowledge of their affiliation. This shall be made abundantly clear to said operative upon recruitment. In times of rest, it shall be encouraged that aforementioned operative maintain a public, mundane life as to prevent suspicion from falling upon them. There shall also be agents maintained at base, to analyze information as it is reported to the Directorate. These agents shall be responsible for sifting through delicate information and crafting public knowledge.
For both branches, there shall be monthly training and activity requirements both to maintain current membership, and to advance through ranks. Each branch shall have clearly divided ranks, determined by activity and accomplishment.
(( OOC - It shall be clearly stated here that espionage and spying shall not be done outside of PES. Spying on, infiltration of, and interaction with other guilds or organizations in this capacity is both not condoned and strictly forbidden. Any and all espionage activity done while a member of the DSI will be done within the confines of this guild. ))
III - Where we are located
The DSI is located on Nexus grounds, within the defensive structure known as The Compound. The compound is a walled-off defensive facility, with architecture inspired by classical Earth Russian styles. The compound's grounds feature a shooting range, a full obstacle course, and a simulated battlefield. While all scenarios can not be predicted in advance, one can attempt to prepare as thoroughly as possible.
The building itself is five above-ground floors, with two sub-basements. It includes training facilities, a tactical 'war room' from which to plan large-scale operations, the offices of the Director and her staff, and dormitories for any agent on duty or coming off who feels they are too tired to make it back to their Society-issued room. The Compound's subbasements include the housing for the clandestine department, and an on-site prison in which to keep enemies of the Society and troublemakers on premises.
IV - How to Join
To join the DSI, one must fill out the short application and return it to the acting Director. A short interview will be conducted with the prospective applicant, and determine how well they will fit into the organization.
